GLP-1 Analogs / Incretin mimetics: Ozempic, Wegovy, Semaglutide, Mounjaro and Tirzepatide

For patients with type 2 diabetes, insulin resistance or obesity, these medications dosed as a 1x a week injection help patients lose weight and manage their glucose levels by slowing gastric emptying, reducing appetite and improving insulin sensitivity. They also help lower blood pressure and reduce heart disease risk. Side effects can include nausea, abdominal pain, and fatigue. These medications are available at your local pharmacy under your insurance plan or can be compounded during shortages or if not covered by your insurance.

Lomaira and Phentermine

Phentermine is an appetite suppressant that reduces hunger, increases metabolic rate (metabolism) and improves energy and focus. Side effects include rapid heart rate, nervousness and insomnia. Starting with the lowest effective dose is always preferred. For patients who have never taken phentermine or are sensitive to stimulants we frequently recommend Lomaira which is 1/5th the dosage of a phentermine tablet. Lomaira acts as a mild appetite suppressant, providing a mild boost of energy with rarely any side effects.
